The aim of Scientia Academy is to raise standards of achievement by providing a secure, caring and stimulating environment in which children are enabled to become independent, responsible and enthusiastic learners.
The provision of equal opportunities, effective planning, teaching and assessment is intended to encourage all individuals to have high expectations and to recognise their own successes and improvements.
Scientia Academy is a two form entry school for children aged 3 to 11 years old; at present 60 Reception, 60 Year 1, 60 Year 2, 60 Year 3 & Year 4 & 5 class children are on roll and the school will continue to grow over the next three years to reach its full capacity of 420 children. It is a very friendly school where children are encouraged to become confident, caring and articulate and to use their abilities to the full. We aim to provide a calm and happy atmosphere and set high standards of respect, courtesy, hard work and achievement for all children and adults. The school offers a range of extended services to parents, and a morning and afternoon part-time Nursery.
The School is equipped with modern purpose built classrooms, an extensive library, art and craft rooms as well as an expertly designed outdoor play and learning environment. We offer extended school services with a Breakfast Club from 8 am and After School Club until 5:45. We enrich the curriculum as much as possible through educational and residential visits, visiting speakers and professionals, first-hand experiences and by drawing upon the local and wider community. Parents are encouraged to become actively involved in their children’s learning.
We are very proud of the social and cultural diversity of our school. The children and staff come from a variety of different countries and we aim to celebrate the richness that this brings to the school. This diversity is reflected in our curriculum, our policies and procedures and our school environment.
